Gorman Winery "Rock Show"

Well what a show this was. This was a 15 set 4 hour show with amazing wines from Chris Gorman like Bulley, and Evil Twin, and great SKA music from Natalie Wouldn't. The day was amazing with 78 degree weather and lots of wine and lots of really fun and sometimes very drunk people. Give you an idea of how this deal went. Doors opened at 12:00 45 people would rush in while the fog machine ran and the band fired up. As you can see from the photo people were having a great time and they brought their own glasses.

Natalie Wouldn't would play 3 songs sets. Giving people enough time to get one pour and taste some great wines. When the 3rd song ended people left and then a quick break and the next flood of wine tasters were rushed in. This went on for 4 hours. It was fun and upbeat . Thanks to Chris Groman and all his help it ended up being a great hit.

By the end of the day the Band was tired, the volunteers were tired, and Chris and his wife Kelly, his parents, Sandy and Don were exhausted. WE had fun and really got to experience a great event.

We are very excited that this great band 2nd Time Lucky is coming to Seattle.

These guys are a poppy punky ska band from sunny Brighton. They formed in July 2003 as a collection of various musicians from other south coast ska bands when the local scene was at a real peak. Since then they had a million people come and go through the band (full story in the blog!). Right now they are saving hard to get a full album recorded.

We were lucky enough to go over to Brighton and do a mini tour with this band and it was a blast. Well this July we are retuning the favor and they are flying across the pond to come play their great British Ska here in the states. If your not familiar with this band you can check them out on their myspace site. We are currently setting up gigs where Natalie Wouldn't and 2nd Time Lucky will share the stage. Hopefully if everything works out we will be playing together in British Columbia at the annual Ska Fest in Victoria. Stayed tuned for more to come on this fun British invasion.

The Q Cafe

So here is a bit about the Q Cafe. "Q Cafe also doubles as a great music venue [visit us on MySpace for all upcoming shows]. With our 238 persons occupancy, no alcohol, solid sound system, tons of free parking, and a classic Seattle urban cafe vibe, it’s one of the up and coming all-ages-venue in Seattle. We’ve hosted open mics, gospel, alternative, hip hop, one grammy winner, jazz, some classical music, and of course, many local musicians."

We are very excited to be playing with Get down Moses. So on Friday April 18th if your not busy you should head out to the Q and have a great evening at the really cool new venue.

Well the show was fun at El Corozon with Bad Manners. Even though it was an early show we still seem to have some people there and they all seemed into the music. Our set was short and sweet. We started off with Stop and were able to squeeze in Train for our last song.

We were all give only 25 min sets so Bad Manners could play the full hour and thirty mins. I have to thank all the fellas from the Diablotones for back lining gear, special thanks to Steve for being cool and letting me stick my kick in place of his with the New Natalie W. drum head logo.

Shawn and I were hanging out in the Bar before the show and had an opportunity to chat with Buster the title of this post is because of the image you see in these photos. Kevin even was able to hang with Buster out by the Winni pre show. All in all it was fun and we are looking forward to sharing the stage with Bad Manners the next time they come through Seattle. Cheers.

Bad Manners show on April 5th

Come one come all. ok this is going to be one great show, the line up is smoking and what more can you ask for with bands like the Cauz, Georgetown Orbits, The Diablotones, Natalie Wouldn't and the one and only Bad Manners.

It has been a while since our last show with Bad Manners but if they play like they did last time this is going to be one great show.

We have been working on some new material we are hoping to unveil at the show along with some of our regular favorites. F.B.I. Dick, and Dog Gone.

This summers is looking like a good deal of shows for us and it is great to start the spring off with a show like this.

Road Tested

Well here we are back stage at Studio 7 for the 08 SKA Fest getting interviewed by Kyle Madsen with the Spectator. We really enjoyed the show. We always love to play at studio 7. The sound guys there are amazing the stage is huge and we seem to always have some great energy going with our fans. Richard had to bug out after we got off the stage so he missed the photo but Richard being new to the band did an amazing job that night. He has been a great addition to our band. Here is what Kyle had to ay about our show. Following Legal Lies was one of Seattle’s most time-tested ska bands Natalie Wouldn’t. Fresh off a short UK tour, the band stuck to rock-steady slow jams, coupled with upbeat singles about heartbreak and misery. With several years experience under their belts, Natalie Wouldn’t was apart from the other bands with a more precise sound. “We really take a lot of time to make sure each song is exactly the way we want it to be, and the audience seems to like it too,” said drummer Mike Fanning.

SKA Fest on Feb 8th

This is going to be one hell of a show. The lineup is strong and it is at a great all age’s venue. I mean come on the Warsaw Poland Bros. Georgetown Orbits, of course Natalie Wouldn't, The Diablotones, The Push, Legal Lies, and more. This will be a great night with allot of SKA and great music. If you haven't been to Studio Seven it is very easy to fine. Just head south on 1st ave and take a left on Horton and you are there. I believe we will be taking the stage around 8:30 or 9:00ish check out the site for details. We will be rested up from our recent show in Hollywood and ready to get our amazing Seattle fans excited to skank. Hope to see all of you there and please come up and talk to us. So we made it home alive from Hollywood. What a great show. We really had a ball and saw some great bands that we shared the stage with. We got to meet some really great new people.

So lunching in Hollywood is interesting to say the least. Leaving the Coffee Bean no other than Elmo and Darth Vader. Wonder what they talk about at lunch?

Kevin, Rick, and Shawn outside the knitting factory. We wanted to check out the place in daylight. Very cool club and just across the street from our Hotel how convenient.

Hollywood Blvd has many shops one that we really liked was the store with every shoe you can think of if you are a pole dancer. These were my favorites.

At the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel as part of the turn down services you are given a prescription bottle filled with M&M's Shawn overdosed but seemed to be ok the next morning.

We really enjoyed ourselves and would do it again in a heart beat. Want to thank Buck from the Toasters and all his band members for letting us share gear as well as the guys from RiceRokit.

The Management

The walk of fame baby!

Natalie Wouldn't is heading to L.A. This is going to be a fun trip. Rick, Kevin, Mike, Shawn, and Richard are all scheduled to hit LA running this Friday the 25th of Jan.

We are set up for a 5:00 wake up call to head to Sea Tac airport to get on our flight that will be landing us into Burbank for our show that evening in LA at the infamous Knitting Factory.

This band has not played in LA as of yet and we are extremely excited to share the stage with the Toasters, Buck O Nine and many others. Shawn informed me yesterday that Natalie Wood's star is located directly outside the hotel we are staying in. Won't that be a fun photo shop opportunity.

We have put together a blazing set list for this show guarantee to get the crowd lathered up into a froth. We will be playing some strong standards like F.B.I. and some new ones like STOP, and Train Justice. We also want to thank Buck for thinking of us for this show and thank the whole band for back lining us. Hauling drums on a plane is a pain in the ass.

We will get some time to hang out so we will be sure to take lots of pics and post them to our site as soon as possible. If you are going to be in LA this friday come check out the show.

New York City ska legends, The Toasters, are taking over the entire Knitting Factory in Hollywood on Jan. 25th!

Yes it is true Natalie Wouldn't has now been completed. We would like to take the opportunity to introduce you to the newest member of Natalie Wouldn't Richard AKA "Platinum Dick. "

Richard dazzled us with his Keyboard prowess along with his great vocals. He adds a much needed layer to our sound. You may know him as the axe slinging keyboard player for the very popular Plaintiffs. We were lucky enough to share this great musician with the gang in the plaintiffs.

Richard pulls double duty and does it well. Come see Richard at one of our gigs and show him the Natalie Wouldn't Fan love if you would be so kind.

As always we love you all, and we keep going because you keep asking for it.

Ok really, what gives? Between Craigslist, The Stranger and Myspace we are having no luck finding a good Keyboard/vocalist.

Yes it is true we would like to take our amazing foursome to the number 5. Aaron our great friend and amazing keyboard player has a job that just does not allow him the time to continue on with us. This saddens us but at the same time we have lots of ska to play and many of shows to play at. That said I decided to post this article up on our blog in hopes that some of our great fans will help get the word out that "Natalie Wouldn't is Looking"

So if you know of a great keyboard player with amazing pipes male or female we want to hear from them and see if it might be a fit. We guarantee great times, quality musicianship, and more fun in a band then they could ever imagine.

Hempfest 2007 Seattle

Well it was another successful Hempfest. They had one of the biggest turnouts ever. We played on Saturday and it started out as an amazing day. Sunny 78 degrees and lots of people. We were on the Seely stage and I just want to say that the stage manager and all their help were great. They had a hospitality tent providing great food and drinks.

Before we went on stage Rick Steves graced our stage with a talk. It was fun meeting him and he had a great message. After Rick talked it was our turn to take the stage

We went on stage and the Weather was amazing we started our show with Who's sorry Now. As we worked our way through the show the clouds began to move in.

Pretty soon it was a full on rain, coming in hard an wet. But we hung in there as did the fans and made it a great fun show.

Oh what can we say about our Friend, our roadie, our bouncer, our "get me a beer guy", and the guy who kept us laughing while in Europe.

Dave what a trooper for hanging out with us in England. Not only did you pay your way but you got there before we did. You took a lot of great footage when we were on stage. You know your way around London far better then we did and you even bought us all beers at the most opportune times. Hey and how about that Key shirt. What a great shirt. We just wanted to say thanks and if we go again you are so invited.

Well we are very excited that Aaron is able to join us for our upcoming show at Hemp Fest. In fact we are keeping our fingers crossed that he will also play with us on our Seattle and Portland show with the Toasters.

When Aaron left the band due to his crazy travel schedule for his day job were were sadden but none the less we continued on and played great and had fun. That said Aaron is a long time good friend and a missed band mate. We are pleased that he is going to be on stage with us in our upcoming shows. He adds a flavor to our music that we love and we know you all love. See you all at Hemp fest.

Playing with the Toasters

Well it is time again to post and let you all know what we are up to. We are very excited about some of our upcoming shows. We again are going to be playing with one of our very favorite bands the Toastes. You also have to mention the great Diablotones as well. We will not be playing just one nite with the Toasters but two. Yes Sept 19th we will be sharing the stage with Buck and the boys in Oregon at the Hawthorne Theatre, then the following evening on the 20th of Sept we will be with the Toasters again at Studio Seven. What a great two nights of ska. Rick, Kevin, Shawn and I are really enjoying this amazing year we have been having as a band. From the release of our CD SKA SOUL ROCK & ROLL , to our tour in London with the gang from Second Time Lucky, it has just been way to much fun. Now we are closing out this year with a show at the Famous Hemp Fest in Seattle on August 18th on the Seeley Stage and then the shows with the Toasters in Sept. In Jan 08 we will start off with a bang by playing 3 floors of SKA at the infamous Knitting Factory in Hollywood.

We love our fans and hope that you continue to come out and support us. We promise to have a new CD out soon with some new songs the were inspired while we were in London. Cheers for now and we sill see you all soon.

Soho, Reading, Brighton

Ok it has been a while since we last posted and we apologize. We just returned from an amazing tour in England. Shawn, Mike, Rick, Kevin, and Dave took off on July 9th and headed for London. WE have to mention a few people here because if it wasn't for 2nd Time Lucky this tour wouldn't of happened. so Drew, Cat, Scuff, Andy, John, Rob, Dan thank you. You guys and gals are fantastic. Then we have to say Dave it wouldn't have been the same without you, thanks for getting us beers, taking pic, and everything else you did for us.

Holly you were great for sporting us a great Flat while we were in London. It was fun for us and no torture at all.

Others, Ella, Robyn, Liz and I'm sure I'm missing others but we want to thank all of you for making this an amazing trip.

We started out playing a great show in Soho at the St Moritz club for Gaz rocking blues show. This show was amazing click here to see some photos of that show. Gaz

We then did a bit of site seeing in London then headed for Reading. This show was at the Purple Turtle. I have to say that we meet some great people there. Neil and Nell were awesome very fun people. Even thought it was raining we still enjoyed pints of Stella into the wee hours of the morning. We finally got to our hotel around 5:00 AM.

Next day we headed South to Brighton. If you haven't been to Brighton your missing out. Brighton is a very cool coastal town. This is also the home of the band 2nd Time Lucky and a great venue called the Concorde 2. Our show in Brighton was awesome and again we meet some great people.

PS Rick still has some small bruises form the rock rolling with the boys from Twice the Size. You guys were great.

So to everyone we want to say thankyou and we can't wait to come back.

Folklife Festival

Well another Folklife Festival has come and gone. I have to say that it is one of our favorite shows to play. The Atmosphere is amazing. The fans are always pumped, and energetic, and we love playing in our favorite city Seattle.

This year was scary at first in that we weren't sure about the rain holding off. It did hold off and in fact the sun actually poked it's head out for about 3 mins. I have to say we love seeing all of you out there skanking away. Singing the words to our songs and just in general having a ball. We played between some great bands The Karmacanix from Canada kicked off the show. Man the lead singer can sing and play the trumpet like no ones business. The show was closed by the infamous Georgetown Orbits. All the reviews so far are saying the Ska show and the Rockabilly really seem to be the draw this year.

Well we had a great time and just in case you missed it a fan of ours had set up a camcorder and was kind enough to post up to youtube. We love ya Bruce so enjoy.

The Name Natalie Wouldn't

As of late we have been asked on numerous occasions how did we get our name "Natalie Wouldn't". Many think it was a girlfriend that wouldn't, well you know. Others think it was an x-band member that wouldn't.

Well I hate to say I wish it was something juicy like that but it is really a pretty simple story. Early on in our day we were looking for a name that would stick out and make people wonder. Our first attempt for a name was SofaKing. We very quickly found out that not only was this name not available but many different groups had many variations of it. Like "SofaKingCool", "SofaKingStupid" and the list goes on and on.

Well one evening in our tiny little box of a room we called our practice place at Steve's house, the topic of Heart to Heart came up. You know the show with Robert Wagner who happened to have been married to Natalie Wood. We must have had too many beers because why Heart to Heart came up I'll never know. So somewhere along the line I said in my drummers voice "hey didn't Natalie Wood drowned?" Steve replied yeah she was the wood that wouldn't float. OK right about now I have probably offended some of you, and made others laugh, and some really don't care. Anyway when he said that we all laughed and I replied "Natalie Wouldn't" It just kinda of stuck and well it has been a great name for us and we use it in memory of our beloved Natalie Wood.

So please if you happen to be a Natalie don't get upset because is has nothing to do with you not putting out!

PS Robert, or Natasha, if either of you in the slightest, most remote chance happen to come upon this Blog, which I highly doubt. Please take no offense. Natalie was an amazing wife and mother. And you might just happen to dig our music.

I can remember early on in my music career being in college and fighting tooth and nail to scrape up enough money to make a CD then beg and plead with the local University radio stations to play our stuff.

Well times have really changed and for the better. It is amazing the quality of recording you can achieve today for little dollars. Then you take a company like CD Baby that does everything for you at a small $35.00 and 9% of sales. If your band has the chops and the determination to write good stuff, companies like CD baby can really help you with getting out there. From ITunes to Ring tones to selling the actually CD, they have is nailed down.

The New CD

Hi, we wanted to find out if many of you have heard our new CD, SKA SOUL ROCK & ROLL. We would love to get your feedback as to what you liked or didn't like about it. Did it move you or did you move when you heard it. :)

We will be going back into the studio after we return from London to make a second CD. Our goal is to keep creating great fun SKA music that keeps our fans hungry for more. So Ask away any question and we will answer.

Some of you lately have been asking if Aaron our keyboard player is single. I'll let him answer that one. We do call him the band eye candy.
